surgery, and the art of lawn management
Thing Two made it through her surgery with flying colors. Actually it was the most non-issue surgery that there ever was. We arrieved at the surgery center at 630 am and we checked in. Thing 2 who was sporting her very most favorite pink satin kitty pajamas was a little cranky since she was awake so early AND wasnt being permitted to partake of the offered coffee (yeah yeah yeah.. I let my 7 year old drink coffee.. SO SUE ME.. it has less caffiene than coke!) By 730 we were called by the nurses who were wearing MATCHING pooh bear scrubs! How cute! Thing 2 was fitted with a scrub cap of her very own , a sedative was administered and then she was handed a nintendo game boy and that was really the last we heard of her. It only took her a few minutes to slip off to sleep. MUCH better than the dramatic hispital gown, IV needles and then the tearful screaming as the nurses ripped her from my arms of her last sugeries at AHEM then OTHER hospital in the area. Needless to say I will be having any needed surgeries for myself or anyother loved one preformed at THIS hospital..
After she was asleep the nice ENT (Dr Mccutie-pie I say) came and explained the surgery and she was wheeled out. My Mom who had accompanied me.. Steven was playing Daddy Daycare at home and I were ushered into the waiting room where we were offered coffee and muffins. I enjoyed one and some hot coffee and watched a little of Good morning America. No sooner had I settled into watching Diane and Sams adorable banter than Dr McCutie-pie came out and announced that Thing 2 was out of surgery and in recovery thank you very much!
I was ushered into the adorable disney themed recovery room and saw my sweet girl sleeping in the arms of the sweetest granny-esque nurse. I whispered into her ear and she opened her eyes and asked if we were ever going to do her surgery and that she had been dreaming of DIsney World! (thats my girl!_ After that she was able to get dressed and was ready to go party! What a night and day experience from her last surgery! She has barely even had any reaction. Other than not wanting to take her meds she was her old self by dinner time.
Although I think the anesthesia made her feel a little loopy. After getting lunch at Thing 2’s favorite, SONIC drivethrough we made our way home. As we were driving on I-95 my mom and I heard her singing to herself. “Ohhhhhhhhhhhh once I saw a chimpanzeeeee, a chimpanzeeeeee sitting in a porta poteeeee.” I snorted my lemon berry slush (only the most tasty beverage on the planet) when I asked her where she had heard that song she said… “ohhhh I dont know.. it just popped in my head when I was sleeping” I love that kid. Here’s hoping the tubes will keep those nasty ear infections away!
Today Steven and I worked on the yard. We live in 2 acres of.. grass. So once a week we have to mow. Especially this week where we drained 5000 gallons of algae thick water accross the lawn. The lawn LOVES algae water. It took HOUES to get the lawn like we like it. I on the mower and Steven on the weed whacker. It looks pretty nice tonight though. To bad its sopposed to rain tonight and will make it grow all fast again. We also installed a new hummingbird feeeder and I repotted the lovely impatient that Thing 2 got me for mothers day.
Then tonight after the girls went to spend the night at my cousin’s house I grilled some chicken breast and smothered it in Sticky fingers Tennesee whiskey bbq sauce. Then I put them on split rolls and served it with tomato from my Daddy’s garden and oven roasted potato wedges. YUMM. I could have hurt myself on that chicken! YAY for fridays!

i need a pool guy
Lots going ontoday. We are continuing with the saga of the pool. NOW I know why rich people hire other people to care for thier pools! And this is just a little one. UGH what a hassle.TO bad I like it so much! Last night we allowed the hoses to run and finish filling up the pool. The 1 and a half iuches of rain we got monday morning didnt hurt either! So it is full, and now my Dad took a smple to the pool peope uptown and supposedly purchased the needed chmicals so that tonight when Steven comes home from work he can treat the water. It is still COLD like your butt on a winter evejning. But hopefully by the weekend we can swim again. UGH!
I am babysitting my cousins little girl today. actually she called last night and asked if her daughter could come “play with Thing Two” wich is code for “will you babysit my kid?” Since there are already 4 other kids here today it didnt make much difference. Except this particular child is a WHINER.Its like nails on a chalkboard and making me NUTS. Thank goodness it wont be ALL day. Id be certifiable by 5 if she came and stayed like the other kids do.
So now that the battle of the pool is over I ma bgeining a new one. ANTS. tiny little black sugar ants ar eon the march in my house. I cant find where the suckers are coming in at! Its like a covert mission to overtake the house. ALthough they have something coming for them. I will win. I promise. The question is. How do I kill the ants without killing the children?

Ambitions awry
uh. Only Monday and our ambitious week is already in the.. crapper. Instead of painting the den on Thursday I will be taking Thing Two to have minor outpatient surgery. Our AWESOME ENT thinks that tubes will be the best thing for her . This makes 3 times. poor little toot. She is of course nervous, but not so nervous as you might think. Today when we went for our consultation the Dr explained the surgery to her in terms that she understood far better than I thought she did, because tonight when we visited my parents she made a paper “ear” and did the entire procedure for my Dad, who was very impressed with her surgical skills. She got all the terms correct and even presented him with a bill for her services. “$20.00 bucks, CASH ONLY” it said. This is a girl after my own heart.
Thing One is home from her weekend at her Mom’s. I miss her so much when she is gone. Mostly because she is my only “adult” conversation when Steven is working so much. She came home exhausted as usual but thankful to be home.. that makes ya feel kinda good when she goes off, has a good time, but is then glad to be back home.
Steven, a wrestling fan is mourning the loss of Chris Benoui (sic?) I barely tolerate the shows FIVE nights a week, as they usually have a lot of strobe effects and Steven likes to watch in the dark. The flashing gives me a migraine. Seriously. ANY kind of flashing light will get me every single time. Its sad. I used to LOVE to go dancing at clubs and go to concerts, But I am afraid that one night at a concert might do me in! UGH. I am getting old.. anyway back tot he dead guy. Its amazing the emotion the death of this one guy is generating for my honey. I don’t think I remember him being as torn up over anyone.. including his own grandmother! Actual tears people.. over a personality he has never met. I guess I wont talk TOOO much, because when Ronald Reagan died I was torn up for days… but a cherished president, world leader and 100 year old American icon is one thing… a wrestler? cmon. I do however feel bad for his family. Chris, his wife and his son were all found dead today. How sad is that?

A new start
SO I guess I finally got tired of blogging on Myspace. No one reads that stuff..except the peoplt hat I have on myspace… and I guess the point of a blog is that someone might find what I have to say interesting enough to come back again and again.. at least someone other than my mother.
I also want to get back into bogging everyday, like a daily thing. I love going back and reading all of my old posts. So. here I am on wordpress.
I hope I dont bore you to death!
Today was a pretty good day.. nothing special really but nothing bad happened, so thats all you can ask for right? Thing Two and I went to church this morning. Thing One is at her Mom;s this weekend. and Steven had to work. I hate SUndays when he has to work. Actually I am getting to the point where I really hate when he has to go to Home Depot at all. I am getting really excited for the day when he can quit and move into working the business full time. I know its comming. But I am all about instant gratification. Donchaknow.
I continued to work on the pool and its issues today. YUCK. When we came home the little bit of water that was in the bottom of it was pea soup/babypoop green. EW. But I took the broom and scrubbed away at it for like an hour. Then I realized that I was frying my skin. With the white and blue pattern on the bottom of the empty pool and the water I was spraying and the 100 degree heat I was quickly toating myself. So I went in and took a nap.. much healthier pastime dont you think? Later I went to Mom and Dads and helped my Aunt make dinner for everyone. Nearby there is a store that sells whole ribeye roasts for $2.99 a pound and since it impresses my Dad so much every time he sees the sign out he goes and buys a ton of steak.. and always takes pity on us poor hot dog eating folks accross the street and invites us to come for dinner. I made cornon the cob (that we bought from a farm on friday) and mac and cheese. I made a big green salad as well… man was it good. There is nothing better than ribeye on the grill. mmm mmm.
Then since Steven was home from Home Depot we went and worked some more on the pool. Actually Steven worked on the pool and I lay on the deck and played with his cell phones Jukebox option. It was like he had his own personal DJ. And who wouldnt want that is what I am asking! Finally as it was getting dark all the nasty greenish water was out and the sides scrubbed down… now all we have to do is fill it with 5000 gallons of fresh water and retreat it all.. then wait a few days for the water to go from glacial to tepid. MAYBE I’ll be able to send the munchkins out to plau in the water wednesday or thursday.
Busy week ahead for sure. The plan so far is Monday. Thing Two to the ENT to find out of tubes are needed again. Tuesday- Housework Wednesday Prep for painting the den Thursday Steven is OFF and we pkan to begin painting the den. AND Thing Two has a dentist appointment to have 2 baby teeth removed to make room for the gaint ones comming in behnd the baby ones. WHY her teeth dont fall out like a normal presons? I dont know. Then Friday- finish the painting and replace the furniture in the den. UGH. I am tired just thinking about it. PHEW!
